Janice Munt and Jenny Lindell

Todays question before the state election? What are Janice and Jenny doing local? Except towing the labor line. Will they stand up and say something for the local area for once, will they make a Brumby  Government do something for the local area, yes schools and roads.  Thats general and across the line, when will they come out of their shells? Will they ask Brumby about the Mordialloc Creek? An un finished project. A jewel for the local area. A draw card for people from near and far. Its not just people that boat and fish that use this jewel. Kids can explore the environment, people love to walk along it, sporting clubs play along it and in this day and age of little space it gives freedom to escape. Yet, the people doing yoga and exercise groups don't count. What value do we put on this open space which is in such short supply in the modern day?
It used to be full of birds and fish and even the odd shark was known to be caught in its waters. Yet, today it is in a state of disrepair. Boats find it hard to use, both moored and trailer. People find it smelly and off putting, kids don't play along its banks any more as it is choked up. The local traders know it could be such a draw card for the area, developers know the potential that it offers.
Yet, the Government does nothing. Jack Pompei first knew something was wrong in 1950 with the creek and took it to the government, decade after decade he  has raised it's head for help. When will they finally come up with a detailed long term plan for the creek? To restore it's health, to bring back life to a barren land. If we can not see it's potential, what it's true value is we might as well just fill it in. Close it down, stop it's pain.
Take the time and write into the leader and voice your concern. mordialloc.chelsea@leadernewspapers.com.au
 Help the creek.

Mordialloc Creek 60 years enough is enough

My father Jack Pompei OAM first started the fight against the government some 60years ago now to have Mordialloc Creek cleaned up and returned to the beautiful waterway it once was. I have a lot of groups getting on board as this will be a great area for the community to enjoy. The jewel of the district. Please join in.
I have a special request to ask of you, a very important job now. 60 years is enough, l don’t what my son Jesse fighting this in another 60 years time. Could you please speak to the fishing clubs/ tackle shops/ sporting associations Club presidents. Could you please ask them, their committees and members all to write in / email the following people and say 60 years is enough  It’s time for action to clean up Mordialloc creek.

Please write into the following:

If the clubs need reminding what my father Jack has done for the community of Mordialloc l am happy to tell them and remind them. http://localhistory.kingston.vic.gov.au/htm/article/87.htm My uncle Joe was an Australian Middle weight champion boxer. Then l could tell you how my father saved over 2000 people from drowning, paid for dredging of the creek out of his own pocket  in the past, built retaining walls for the creek out of his own pocket, saved Mordialloc pier, was father of the Victorian Water Police, helped local schools, helped the local catholic church.  Where do you want me to stop? I don’t ask for much help, but l want some power on my side for this final fight. I want it to be big. He has been on Australian Story, in the Age and there is plenty of media on him out there. Google Jack Pompei as well.

Any other help, advice or contacts from club members would be great and anyone else you can get on board for me would be welcomed. Your help in this important matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Leon Pompei
